Asian style barbecue oysters

  • 12 Pacific oysters
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 tspn sesame oil
  • 1 tbspn mirin
  • 1 tspn sugar
  • ½ cup marinated wakame (seaweed)
  • 2 tbspn of pickled ginger, shredded

Seafood used

Cooking method

  1. Preheat barbecue to medium heat.
  2. Mix together soy sauce, sesame oil, mirin and sugar. Set aside.
  3. Fill a bowl with cold water. Turn oysters upside down, gently rinse in the water then shake off the excess.
  4. Remove oysters from the shell, rinse shells then place oysters back in and and spoon sauce over the oysters.
  5. Place oysters on the char grill side of the barbecue and cook for approximately 1-2 minutes, until they go slightly plump (cooked but juicy).
  6. Remove from the barbecue, arrange on a platter and top each oyster with a teaspoon of wakame and some pickled ginger.
