Fisher wellbeing

A guide for fishers

We’re increasingly hearing from commercial fishers who have been threatened, harassed, and abused, both online and in person. This behaviour is unacceptable. To help fishers navigate these challenges Seafood New Zealand has created a short guide on what to do if you experience abuse online or in real life.

Where to get help

Working at sea can be very challenging – mentally, physically, legally and financially. And as things continue to change, it’s vital that people in the industry – and their whānau – have the support they need to adjust and thrive.

If you need support, reach out to FirstMate.  Their support services are free and confidential.
